8th day of Dashain we called Austami or Kal Raathri. In english Kal means death and Raathri means night. It is called because in this day many animal are kill offering to God. Most of the household in Nepal kill goat or sheep or buffalo in the name of God. They are offering an animal to the name of god early in the morning and worship god with the use of animal blood. It is believe that during Kal Raathri we should stay without sleeping whole night so most of the people in villages they stay whole night without sleeping. They have cultural program whole night, have fun, dance, sing song, and many more activities. In the next day on 9th day of Dashian they got asleep whole day.
Before the day of Kal Raathri we have 7th day called as Phulpathi. During that day many people from different places come to Tudekhel of Pokhara to buy goat or sheep or mountain goat. Thousands of animal are keep in Tudekhel in a manage way so every people can look it and can buy whoever they prefer. Local club manage all the system in Tudekhel and they take charge for it. This year too I have also visited to Tudekhel. I have found something well managed comparatively to previous year. There were other stall too. The stalls were of cloths, basic need products, handicrafts, and many other recreational stalls. Most of the people were busy to buy their essential products in Tudekhel. It seem that most of them were spending their about 90 percent of money in Tudekhel. They bought sheep or goat in average Rs 8,000, clothes for their children, bought some basic essential products, have lunch or food in hotel, have some recreational activities and taxi reserve and go home. This was the activities during whole day in Tudekhel in Pokhara. The expenditure was more. During the time of evening most of the sheep or goat in Tudekhel were fininshed. Some peoples in the evening were worried for not getting good goat or sheep.
I have been watching all this activities from my friend's gift shop called Two Panda. Some time we saw some women were crying and so worried because she lost her children in crowd. Sometime we saw some children were just roaming alone in the road with a toy in their hand. Some people were walking with so sad and dark face because they were lotted by theif in the mass. They dont have product in their hand. Many children were so happy because they have seen market, new clothes, food, toys, and played swing. Many young people have got the opportunities to have date. Many old friend got opportunities to met their old friends in Tudekhel. Most of the taxi driver were so busy to earn money. Many local transport were so full of people. People from villages were so worried for late and not having transport facilities.
My concern was on every people who present in Tudekhel. Although there was a dustbin for waste management in Tudekhel but nobody put their waste in those dustbin. Even some time a man came on a private car, buy some banana and throw the waste on the road. I am so worried with the peoples activities in Tudekhel. Nobody cannot do nothing for waste management. because Nepalese people are unaware on it. About at 8.00 pm in the evening my friend also closed his shop and we had a glimsped towards Tudekhel then the ground was full of plastic and we cannot see other things. That time I felt so sad about our culture or habit of not managing waste. Everybody were selfish. Anyway Happy Dashain You all.
