2nd Unique Mella 2010

Unique club was established in 2058 for the development of local youth of Lamachour Pokhara, Kaski. The founding president was Ritman Gurung. The club was so formed for the development of youth through games i.e. volleyball. So we have started the club with sharing Rs 200 each from all member and bought a volleyball, net and lease a land. We have started it and many people joined to club. We have trained many youths as player and started to participate in different tournament in Kaski district. We made our club sustain through different fund raising program such as Bhailo, Tote etc. The club go on for 3 year and won different tournament in different places of Western Development of Nepal. We have planned to organized 1st Unique Mela in 2060 which was implement sucessfully. We have faced many problem during that day which I still remember. The problem was that Nepal was in Insurgency. I have taken part in singing, dancing, playing, guest as chairman and many other. It was may greatest experience which I have gained in my life. I was too young and just completed my SLC that year. With our club's contribution in volleyball sector Prakash Gurung and me had got the award of National Volleyball Refree license in 2060. I was the youngest National Volleyball Refree in the history of Nepal. During that period we have brought different potential youth volleyball player from villages and gave them to expose in the market of volleyball in Pokhara. For example Ishwor Ghamal was the youth for whom we have given exposure and now he is the national player of Nepal in National volleyball team.
I have handovered the club to new committee in 2061. Then after the club didn't continue his programs and activities. Finally in 2067/2010 the new team with the leadership of Baish Gurung had organized 2nd Unique Mella in the same boundary. They have organized volleyball tournament, Lok Dhohori, Cultural program, Awarded program and many other games. There were altogether 22 team for volleyball. The 2nd day was the day of cultural program with Dhohori and cultural dances. The Mella lasted for 3 days. The last day was volleyball final game and prize distribution. The Mella had awarded SLC passed student. 22 students had awarded in the program. Mr. Krishnamani Baral the photojournalist of Annapurna Post/Himalayan Times had awarded for his great contribution on photo journalism.
Machhapuchhre won the volleyball trophy and 1 runup was Dragon. The chief guest of the program was Manoj Kumar Gurung, chairman of Community Support Group.
I was so happy when I saw the program was sucessfully implemented. I saw the program was totally unique and managable which was lack during our period. The club had started its strategies in a unique way. The most important thing was that the club have started the new works/activities/program for the developement of youths of Lamachour.

Help for the "Disable Friendly Computer Center"

Independent Living Center Pokhara is going to organize the program, "Helping Hands" i. e. "Shahayogi Hatharu". The program will be at Pokhara City Hall, Pokhara, on 25 dec 2010 at 1:00pm sharp. The program is coordinating by N. B Gurung. The main attraction of the program are Rajesh Payal Rai, Raju Gurung, Reshma Sunwar and Sharmila Gurung. Disable Dancer Puspa Gurung's dance will be another attraction and many more cultural program. The ticket rate is Rs 300 and Rs 200. So they want more helping hands for the successful of program.
Actually it was the fund raising program for the establishment of disable friendly computer institution in Pokhara and for the awareness campaign of disable friendly public transportation. Independent Living Center has already the computer institution in Pokhara for the people with disable but it is small one. They want to develop it into bigger one and most important thing is disable friendly institution. If small amount of many people can contribute to this program then we can help for the development of disable friendly computer institution.
The next issues they want to raise is the campaign of disable friendly public transportation. Many people will get benefit with this system. The public transportation has ladder in their vechicle which is totally difficult for wheelchair users and also for pregnency women, old people, etc. If the public transportation is disable friendly then it will benefit to other parts of the society as well. So we have inclusive in this system.
So please help. I am going to help. Are you ready to help for yourself? If you help today then it will be beneficial for you in your old age life or during pregency. This is the program to help ourself.

1st Himculi Wheelchair Basketball Tournament and Yuwa Forum

Yuwa Forum is advocating for the right of the people with disabilities. Similarly, Yuwa Forum is also doing the volunteer in every part of the program of people with disabilities. So as on Dec 10-Dec 11, 2010 the team of Yuwa Forum have joined the program of people with disabilities in Prithivi Narayan Campus, Pokhara. The program was organized by "Disable Sports Association", Kaski, Pokhara, Nepal. The game was for those who used wheelchair. There are altogether 4 teams in male and 2 team in female. Kathmandu wheelchair girl won the game from girls and Pokhara wheelchair boys won the game from boys.
I was also one of the volunteer for that program. I was so happy to see the game they play. Everybody who watehed the game were really surprised. The skill they show is totally out of imagine. They used both the dribling and wheelchair management simultenously was outstanding. The score done by the players was really wonderful even a non wheelchair cannot do. Specially the girl team from Kathmandu was fully trained and they played like a professional players.
Sometime the player fall down from backpart and frontpart of wheelchair because of not proper balance. The game was too interesting and it was long for 2 days. The program was sponsored by Himchuli Bikash Bank, Pokhara.
The role of Yuwa Forum was to hang the banner in different wall of Pokhara. The team of Yuwa Forum distributed letter to different guests, reporters, volunteer and many others. The stage was managed by the team of Yuwa Forum. The water supply for the players, lunch distribution, wheelchair handling, guest handling and many work was done by the team of Yuwa Forum.
It was greatest and unforgottable moment in my life.
